Since 1994, dogs over 35 centimeters tall have been illegal in several Chinese urban centers such as Beijing and Shenzhen. Up until last year this ten-year-old law was not being enforced, even the registration of ‘oversized’ dogs was no problem. However, over the last year there has been a ‘crack down’ on what officials describe as “large and vicious dogs”.
I'll ask about exceptions in Hefei.
