What's wrong with bronze and silver?
« on: August 07, 2012, 02:15:15 am »

I've been reading a lot on how disappointed people are with the gold tally and how athletes must be disappointed with silver or bronze.

There are only 3 places for the entire population of the world in each event.  Just being there is a hell of an achievement! The experience they are having is unique.

Support all of them, regardless of nationality. They're all winners!

The closest I've come to an Olympic medal belonged to my University Computer teacher.
(Nee Shirley Strickland RIP). She gave me A's. She remained humbly proud of her achievements.

I agree with Mike.

The thing that irks me is that on Yahoo I think, their home page shows the "overall medals" for the top 1o countries or so, yet they favour the golds more, even though that country doesn't have an overall medal count to be in that spot.  That wasn't around when I was younger.  All I ever knew was overall medal count, which is what SHOULD count.

This world is going to shit.  >:( ::)
