Huh  Huh  Huh  Huh  Huh  Huh  Huh  HuhChina wants to buy "FACEBOOK"

Quote -
By Gordon G. Chang | Forbes – Sun, Jul 3, 2011 .. First paragraph
On Thursday, Business Insider reported that China is trying to buy “a huge chunk” of Facebook.
According to the business news website, Beijing approached a fund that buys stock from former Facebook employees to see if it could assemble a stake large enough “to matter.”

Moreover, Citibank is rumored to be trying to acquire as much as $1.2 billion of stock for two sovereign wealth funds, one from the Middle East and the other Chinese.

Business Insider reports a third source, from a “very influential” Silicon Valley investment bank, confirms that Citi is representing China.

Should Beijing be allowed to buy a part of Mark Zuckerberg’s site?  Business Insider tells us there is “little need” for concern about Chinese censors looking at the photos and postings of the 700 million people who trust Facebook with their personal online activity.

Huh  Huh  Huh  Huh  Huh  Huh  Huh  Huh
That, in my opinion, is not a good idea...

Makes me want to delete my FACEBOOK account, not that I can log-in often...

I love being in China... for many reasons...
However, the censorship issues are are a major problem for me.

What I say to my friends should be only be between my friends...
What my friends say about me should only be between those people.
I will judge my friends from the stories I hear repeated...

Those who listen in and use that for their own gains, are never to be trusted.

Most of all...
I want to access all information available and choose what I wish to believe.

My question is not how much is a big enough stake to matter but more "What MATTERS?"

Doesn't FACEBOOK have some connection with the CIA?
At least I have Australian law to defend myself against the CIA...

I hope...

I am a member of Xing.com
A wonderful website for business contacts.
BLOCKED

How can we do business?

How can China become a "Super Economic Power"?

This is an old piece of journalistic reporting but a good one.

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/technology/news/article.cfm?c_id=5&objectid=10456534

Excerpt from article ...

Wikipedia's IAO page says: "the IAO has the stated mission to gather as much information as possible about everyone, in a centralised location, for easy perusal by the United States government, including (though not limited to) internet activity, credit card purchase histories, airline ticket purchases, car rentals, medical records, educational transcripts, driver's licenses, utility bills, tax returns, and any other available data.".

additional ...

Parts of the IAO's technology round-up included 'human network analysis and behaviour model building engines', which Facebook's massive volume of neatly-targeted data gathering allows for.

Facebook's own Terms of use state: "by posting Member Content to any part of the Web site, you automatically grant, and you represent and warrant that you have the right to grant, to Facebook an irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive, transferable, fully paid, worldwide license to use, copy, perform, display, reformat, translate, excerpt and distribute such information and content and to prepare derivative works of, or incorporate into other works, such information and content, and to grant and authorise sub-licenses of the foregoing.

And in its equally interesting privacy policy: "Facebook may also collect information about you from other sources, such as newspapers, blogs, instant messaging services, and other users of the Facebook service through the operation of the service (eg. photo tags) in order to provide you with more useful information and a more personalised experience. By using Facebook, you are consenting to have your personal data transferred to and processed in the United States."

Is the CIA really providing the impetus and the funding behind the monster growth of this year's biggest dot com success story? Maybe only the men with the nice suits and ear pieces can answer that.
