Hi and Welcome, In a nutshell...
I arrived in Hefei in June 2004 on holiday, brought by a friend born in Hefei. I was going to stay in China for 4-6 months then continue to Europe. Ben and I started Hefeiexpat.com in Feb 2005 as an interest project and means for Foreigners and Chinese to socialise. There were few of us back then. Ben also was an owner of American Pie Bar. I soon felt comfortable and saw many opportunities. I decided to stay in Hefei for a year and see what it was like. At the end of the first contract at An Nong Da, I decided to stay 1 more year. For the following 2 years, I worked for some shifty private schools so went back to universities and stayed 4.5 years with XinHua University. At the end of each contract, I decided to stay in Hefei for 1 more year. Now I'm here indefinitely and working with one of the better private schools. I am a social guy who likes to mingle with interesting people. I'm always up for social activities, BBQ or a drink! I started a company here a couple of years ago to establish myself so I won't need to work for other schools. I'm not independent yet but I'm sure I will be soon enough.
