Rant Warning about fingerprinting process in Hefei
« on: June 08, 2012, 05:52:34 am »

Begin rant,

As I posted in a different thread, I need to get fingerprinting done here in Hefei, for a job offer back home (Canada).  After the fingerprinting here is done, it will take a few days to have it send to a fingerscan company to begin the processing there.  The processing time in Canada for this is 8 - 10 weeks, which seems perfect for me because that is around the same time the job will start.  So now, to talk about getting the fingerprints done in Hefei.

I was told there is a Notary Office in Hefei, two locations actually (same company), that does fingerprinting for foreigners.  Great I thought.  I wouldn't have to go to Shanghai or another big city to get it done.  But then came the stuff needed by me to get it done.  Look at list below:

1.  Police office "blue slip", which is the paper people use to apply for a visa in Hefei, to confirm the living status of the person.
2.  Marriage book (reason of residency for me)
3.  Proof of job status (I use my HK business as proof, which I do business related things online)
4.  Passport

I might be missing something, but at the moment, this is what's in my mind at the moment.  The thing that really ticks me off is why in the world do I have to take the time out of my day to go to the police office to get that blue slip, which they usually make me wait about an hour until they "process" it there.  Why do I have to show proof of job, and why do I have to show proof of residency?

This doesn't make sense.  I already have been approved for a visa to stay in Hefei, so obviously this process has been done already on me.  Why would someone ask me to do this again for them, just to take my fingerprints, WHICH IS NOT FOR A JOB IN HEFEI AND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH IT?  I say, as long as I bring proof of my identity (passport), and I do the fingerprinting in person in front of them, that should suffice.

Needless to say, I will be jumping through these hoops this afternoon, wasting time.  I hope I don't kill someone or something before I leave here.   >:( ;D

End of Rant

Taxation?  I think all that is needed is a simple feed, to observe me fingerprinting a piece of paper, and matching me to the passport that I provide.  Once those link up, the process should be done.  All behind the scenes stuff this office goes through has nothing to do with me, the customer.  The process should be seamless, and done with common sense.  If I have a valid visa from the PSB, that means I have already "verified myself".  Any possible taxation has nothing to do with me.

If they have to pay a fee or whatever, for each fingerprinting they do, then a simple invoice to whoever by them should suffice.

Anyways, off to fingerprinting I go.  ::)

:)  i don't think the procedure has anything to do with taxation. if i were u, i will read through their procedure regulation firstly, if not logical, i will discuss with them and try to get rid of unecessary part.

That's the thing, it IS their process.  There is no way around it, which is why I am left scratching my head for the reasons I already mentioned.

BTW, don't get me started on my day at the fingerprinting office today.  It made my blood boil, but ended well.  My time is up here folks, the timer is set.  For me, it's been a long time coming.   :-\

Welcome back, Kim.  It's been a while since you posted in the forums.

Yeah, for my situation, I simply was offered something that I couldn't turn down.

Best of luck with your endeavors as well.  ;)
