I visited Hefei in May. I went through the Lord Bao Park and it was wonderful. I visited a store in the park and saw an ink stone I really liked. The price was 1500 RMB. I obtained the email address of the person that sells the ink stones and I asked if they could ship it to me. They said they would give me a 20% discount and ship it to me in Beijing. My wife did not trust the person to ship the exact inkstone I saw, so I sent a picture of the inkstone saying that the one I wanted had a bottom corner missing. I didn't mind the defect, I wanted that exact inkstone I saw. In an email reply, the sales person then raised the price to 2000 RMB, instead of the price they offered (1200 RMB) or the store price (1500 RMB).
I think it is ironical that a store in a park which honors the Lord Bao, who represents honesty, integrity, and a symbol of justice would try to rip me off. Its a disgrace. I want to contact the park manager and tell them about the situation and ask for their help to have the inkstone shipped to me at the original price of 1500 RMB. I am very tired of Chinese people who believe it is their duty to rip people off. In a park that respects justice, is it too much to ask to be treated honestly by the merchants in the park?
I do not speak Chinese, so I would need to communicate in English with whomever is in charge.
Thanks very much in advance for your help!
Steve (in Beijing)
