For those of you requiring the services of a travel agent, I've been reliably informed that Anhui China International Travel Service is one of the most professional in Hefei.

153 Meishan Road No. (CITS Building) Tel : 0551-2843825  Fax:0551 -2812855  License Number: L-AH-GJ00001  http://www.anhuicits.com

However, I use Ctrip.com for all China-related travel and also Bestflights.com.au for international.

GuoLian Travel is the one I use.
My flight Shanghai - Sydney cost me 5200 rmb return.

My experience with China Southern was terrible.
2 1/2 hour delay at Hefei before I even got the plane.
Another 2 hour delay in GuangZhou.

Return from Perth was delayed 1 hour at 6.00am.
Overnight in GuangZhou with an hour waiting for the bus to the hotel.
Another 1 1/2 hour delay leaving GZ.

Air China had an hour delay from Shanghai.

China Eastern is the better one as it is partnered with QANTAS.
My original flight to China was booked through QANTAS but ended up on China Eastern.

I was informed by a friend in the industry that it all has to do with the pecking order.
China Southern was the last company to establish flights directly to Australia so have to compete with the limited resources
so when there is a delay. CS cops it.

Australia had the same issues when Compass was flying.
Caused so many problems, it sent them to the wall.
Aparrantly QANTAS and the other airlines where trying to push them out as they were offering fares too cheaply to try to stay afloat.
Virgin managed as it had a lot of influence through Mr. Branston.
