Starbucks will be openng in the 1912 complex in HuangShan Lu on the corner of HuaiNing Lu which has it's grand opening on September 9th, 2011. There will be about 10-12 bars there as well.
We will have a bar street!
More on this later.

No, just responding to a previous post in this thread.
I'll move it to it's own thread when I have more info.

hi there..
not sure if someone mentioned it already (it might be only me, but Search option does not work on my browser), but i went to eat at Babela restaurant, the one close to SuZhou lu and walknig street cross (the big one, there is a small one in the walking street close to the east end side).
food quite good, very cheap pizza offer (19 kuai.. i think limited in time) and much better than pizza hut!!
still not an italian pizza.. not even close..
but, from my point of view (i'm italian) an acceptable pizza.. among those i tasted in asia..
other foods also quite good!
regards,
andy

Oh Andy, this could be really good news for me. To be honest, I am not as big a pizza eater as I was before, thanks to that darn falafel place...
... but it's always nice to have an option, hopefully good option, near my home.
Thanks for the post, and please keep us updated.

new place, opening, other (bad) place for pizza closing...
but we all knew the original place:
yes, where there was the glorious UFO bar and then a bar and then a chinese pizza place.. there will be soon something else.. because the place is closing up!!!!
after out Kim left, I have the feeling the owners there were just do money laundry business..
let's hope the next will make some new cute little bar.. maybe..
(the post was pizza related.. so not too off topic)
there was UFO bar..

The Shipyard Cafe makes a very good home made deep dish pizza. They will make the pizza from "scratch" with whatever you like (assuming they have the ingredients). The pizza is not on par with a Lou Malnotti's or Gino's east but it is very good for Hefei China!!!!

A super new entry, soon hopefully on the normal menu as well:
Jason @ BITBURGER makes really good italian style pizza!!!
I was there with a friend that recommend the chinese manager to add it soon to the menu, and he confirmed!
Probably the best pizza I have eaten in Hefei!!!

They've been secretly available off the menu for a while now.
I've been back for the pizza many times. It's become part of my staple diet as have the pie and burger.
The pie is a great meal as well.
