Title: Maternity Services

Dear expats,
My husband has been offered a position to work as ESL teacher in Hefei, China. But, before we accept this offer, to relocate as a family from England, I would like to ask on here whether anyone has come across or may have any advise to give an expectant mother on giving birth in China. I know there are various discussions online, but I would like it to be more specific to hospitals in Hefei.

I will welcome any suggestions or recommendations. Thank you so much in advance!

They have women's hospitals here but foreigners don't always agree with procedures and don't have a lot of good comments but at the same time I've never heard of any serious problems.

Two of the best maternity hospitals are First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University (安医附院) and Hefei City Women and Children's Hospital (合肥市妇幼保健院). There are private maternity hospitals which are very beautiful, but the best medical expertise and equipment are at the big public hospitals.
