Title: stats on foreigners in Hefei

截至2012年3月份，在合肥长期生活的外国人共有1855人。其中在肥就业外国人602人、在肥任职(副总、副教授以上)外国人497人、在肥留学外国人431人、其他在肥外国人(旅游、探亲半年以上，就业、任职人员家属)293人。此外，还有一个人数较少的在肥外国人群体，那就是永久居留人员，也就是获得中国“绿卡”的在肥外国人，共32人。

1855  long-term foreigners
602    in employment        
497    at the level of VP, Assoc. Prof. or above
431    studying
293    others (dependents, tourists etc. in HF >6 months)
32      hold permanent residency

Considering that there are less than 4000 foreigners here, I am now more understanding of the locals who stop and stare whenever one of us walks by.

Even I have to stop and say hello when I see one.  ;D
Shanghai is a different story, I get ignored by foreigners there.

I assume this is based on police registrations though, right? Quite a few foreigners do not bother with those I heard, so the real number might be higher....

The pedigree of laowai that ends up in Anhui long term is usually pretty weird. The figures should reflect this.
