I first felt shame at Canada only scoring one medal (bronze), but then I thought to myself, life could be worse.  I could be German.  ;D

That was a dig at them because man, when I was younger, the German's were RIGHT up there in the medal standings.  Now....um, asleep at the wheel.  ::)

For a country with a population less than Shanghai, Australia is fairing well.  ;D

Yes, Aussie's do quite well in Olympics.

What about the North Koreans?  "Starving nation" with 3 golds and 1 bronze.  Now I feel REALLY bad.  :-[

Yes, Italy is doing really well.  Congrats.  I'm from Canada and grew up with a ton of Italians, so in the back of my mind, I am rooting for them in addition to Canada.

Thanks man, but i am the first one knowing we have been lucky.. and already the second day we made some unforgivable mistake with people that were actually supposed to at least get in the first 3 (judo female and one other shooting that in Beijing we got gold medals!!)..
this was followed by synchro-diving female flop (huge error.. lost against.. Canada if i am not wrong!!!) and Pellegrini not doing one of her miracles as everybody expected.. and then also another swimmer..

this is more "normal" Italy!

adding female tennis out, and both male volleyball and water polo defeats.... i start feeling sad already!!!

 ;)
