I am interested to know where you set up your tent. Are there any camp sites on the mountain or can you put it wherever you like? And if so, is it safe. I used to enjoy camping in Canada and Brasil, but I am not sure where to do it here.
-
Thanks for the reply, but I am not entirely clear on this. Usually if you want to enter a mountain site here, you usually have to pay an entry fee. Won't they look at you a little strangely if you enter with your tent, and then see you leaving early the next morning? I'd like to hear from Zanq2er about her experiences.

hey luiz , first you can call me susan , second , the different is , you might stay in a tent over night in USA but i dont . its dangerous . i only stay in tent during the day time bcoz when you tired , you need some place to take a rest . if you lie on the grass , i have to tell you ,its really dangerous , there's so many unknown dangerous insects in the grass .
and for the very famous big mountains , you have to pay enter like yellow mountain . but for such small mountains like dashu mountain , zipeng mountain , tiantangzhai , you dont have to pay , its free . i think before you doubt me ,you can check some imformations about this , or ask some chinese . for yours guys questions , i really feel unbelievable . bcoz that's all not the questions for us . i think you might not use to chinese life .
and i can put my tent everywhere , except on the street ! :) we dont have a law about where you can not put your tent. before i out tent in my room . if you can find a flat place , then you can put your tent there in the mountain .... i think i may can call it hill , bcoz ,its not high and big enough.
PS : this sunday i will go to tianzhu mountain , its a really mountain . enter fee is 150 rmb . i will go with friends .i will try to make more pictures if i could post there .

Thanks for your reply. It is all quite clear now. Does anyone have any knowledge of campsites in Anhui or in China generally, or even places where it is reasonably safe to camp. My feeling is that this is not a popular activity here, but I would like to be proven wrong.

Sorry guys if I upset anyone by trimming out the trash. ;D
-
I do not think there is any need to take out the trash here. I now believe Tim when he says that his question was in perfect good faith and hereby retract my accusation of sarcasm.
Having said that, I think that Susan's original description of her tent fell well within the domain of reason and a little cogitation. Even to an inexperienced camper like myself, it was clear that she was talking about a simple dome tent of the kind I use myself and which does not require stakes. From Wikipedia: 'Dome tents do not require guy ropes and pegs for structural integrity as they are considered free-standing, but must be pegged down in high winds.'
Since it was my question that laid the bait for this discussion, the interested parties can take it up with my personally via QQ (and from there a phone call): 1516471267.

I'd be interested in joining your Sunday trips. I'm moving to Hefei from Chicago in mid July, and am looking for things to do. Exploring the mountains around Hefei sounds like a great way to spend a Sunday.

Joe
welcome come to hefei . joe is a boy's name ?
-
Joe is a boys name, yes.
-
Joe is very much a girl's name as well; abbreviation for Joanna, Josephine and many others.
-
In Canada, when we refer to Joanna in short form, we write it as "Jo", minus the E.

stay in a tent during the day time and go back before dusk ?? kind of defeats the purpose of bringing a tent i reckon.....
-
Not so unreasonable if you factor in the heat.
