Title: Westin Hotel
Post by: CapLou on October 31, 2011, 12:37:02 am
The restaurants at the Westin hotel are great if you want some really good "western" food.  When you walk in to the lobby there will be a restaurant towards the back on the far left and another towards the back on the far right.  The chef for the restaurant on the far right is a "Brit" who has been in China for several years.  His name is Kevin and he is a professionaly trained chef.  The steaks are great and the desserts are even better.

The lobby lounge on the left towards the front has a pretty good drink, coffee, and dessert menu.

Stopped in there today for the first time. Went to the restaurant in far left. Typical Chinese open dining hall, but elegant, nonetheless. I ordered the "beef burger." It was the best hamburger I've had since I've been in China, including some of the renowned burger places in Beijing. A bit well-done for my taste, but excellent taste. They're using some high quality beef; real Angus, perhaps. Came with fries which I didn't bother to eat. 90 RMB and well worth it. Good service too, though the staff's English level is surprisingly low for a 5-star hotel. There is a buffet offered as well, but I can't handle too many different types of food in my stomach. Buffet's (I don't care where they are) are also notorious harbingers of bacteria.
