I was wondering if any of you guys ever tried setting up a home server for a website of yours, or for a friend. I know some ISP's don't allow it, so I have to ask mine (China Telecom) before I try it.
I was thinking about making a home server for my sites using an old laptop. I am a daredevil or what? :P Seeing as though I have NEVER done something like this, it should be interesting. But yeah, I need to make sure the ISP is ok with it. My current hosting provider says I am draining too many resources for my sites, and now I have to look at other options.
Any experiences shared would help me along the way with this. Thanks.
