Title: Has anyone seen a guy on a Harley...

...with flashing lights and an American flag?  Just curious, and I assume he is someone from this forum.  I thought it was pretty funny, no offense guy!

Ha, that is too funny.  I hate it when people stare at me, which feels like all the time in Hefei!  I certainly wouldn't do anything to exacerbate that problem...

I saw another curious laowai on a bike around 11:30 pm (20/11) on Feixi road near the USTC West campus . It was dark so I did not get a good look at the bike, but it was white with blue decorative lights running around the frame and loud music playing. I had just crossed road (coming from a convience store near my apartment) when the rider caught sight of me and for whatever reason decided to turn back. However, he was unable to complete the turn and fell down with his bike in the middle in the road. Luckily for him there was not much traffic and he got up, unharmed. He then approached me, crossing the road without looking and putting himself in some danger of being runover as oncoming cars blared their horns. We had a brief exchange, with him suggesting that I 'be more careful' before he returned to his fallen bike, picked it up and left.

I wondered whether people here know this person: short, a little stocky, black hair, a gold earing in one ear, a North American accent and quite hopelessly drunk on baijiu. If so, they should take him to one side and tell him that he is putting himself and others at serious risk with his antics.

I've been riding bikes for 40 years now and one thing I am certain of is that in any country, racing on streets is bloody dangerous for everyone, especially the innocent pedestrians and is also highly illegal.

Settle down or you will be caught if you are lucky enough not to get killed or kill someone else. A least in most other countries people look before crossing roads etc but not here, they tend to walk out then look.

I'm definitely with Mike on this one. I don't mind at all how thrill-seekers get their kicks, as long as they don't put others at risk. Having seen Tim wipe out with my own eyes, I'm not reassured by knowledge that he is 'usually' (but not always) sober. It'll be a terrible day when somebody's kid gets knocked over. It's time to hang up helmet. kid gets knocked over. Besides, I think this racing along the streets of Hefei at night is pretty undignified behaviour for grown men.

It's time time to hang up the helmet.
