Title: I've got jungle fever (for coconuts, that is)
Post by: rgeczi on May 07, 2011, 02:50:49 pm
As the subject line says, I've got jungle fever.   ;D

I want to buy some young green coconuts, and hopefully I can find them sold locally.  Going the Taobao route just isn't cost effective, where the price of shipping just kills the deal, at least for me.  So, if you guys have any leads, please share them here.

Much appreciated.

 ;D

Maybe I've been watching too many Discovery Network shows where people work their way out of a bad predicament in an island like setting.  Don't know.  But I sure would like to find some coconuts brought into Hefei by a supermarket, if possible, to quench my thirst.  :P

How many are you talking about?

Reminds me of a song we were taught at school.

I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts...

Sorry about my terrible voice, but now the song will haunt you  ;D

At the moment, the quantity is not the main, if I can find a place in Hefei that sells them.  If that's the case, I can just go there pick up X amount of coconuts, when my cravings kick in.   :P

And yes, that song IS going to stay in my mind, THANKS.   :P ;D

The baking stuff should be in Carrefour if I remember correctly, but it's been a while since I went there, so, not sure if they have it now.  If not, Taobao has a growing number of sellers selling various foreign food items, so check them out (if you have a translator or someone that can assist with that).

Thanks for the coconut info.   ;)

I finally took the plunge on buying coconuts from a Taobao seller.  We'll see how they taste like.  They have a sale this month, which you can tell by the price compared with others.  If I re-order this month, would anyone be interested in going in with me for some?  Let me know.  The seller is below:
