Speak it...

That is the way i learnt, i think the biggest problem people seem to face is probably; the chinese person/friend (usually guy unfortunately) kindly informs you that they would like to be your friend/good friend.... I still haven't figured this out - maybe get something official made up  ???

ok so now being "officially" a friend (obviously after mutual consent) they would like to practice english, fine no problem. Though beware of the trap as most likely you will also start speaking english  :-X ! Ahh, how are you going to learn?

Let people practice their english on you of course but if you can already speak english why also practice?

...speak chinese  ;)

p.s. also writing it down helped.

I guess it started in the restaurant.. how do you say that, etc. Also one of the first meals I had was a bowl of rice (after randomly pointing to the menu) so it helped for motivation at the start. But I do try and learn everything even if it goes in one ear and comes out the other, really like I said you need to write it down.

oh, swear words  ;) they are easy in any language!

They easiest stuff to learn is Survival Chinese.
Locations, directions, food, entertainment, social graces, etc.
This stuff is very relevent and the motivation to learn this is high as well as it is the easiest and best stuff to practise.

The student has to find motivation to learn.

Gramaticaly speaking, there is no 'most' easiest way.
The easiest way is the easiest... No such thing as most easiest.

Sorry, I'm just being padantic...

If you want to learn proper English, it'll cost you...

Frankly speaking, i think the best way for you to learn another language is to forget your own language. Only if you learn it by using it, you'll find it's easy . well, easy to say but hard to do .  I think learning is not that hard if you really needs it in your daily life, in addition most foreigners in Hefei are living in their own circles or enjoy to chat with their mate, then no chinese needs indeed. But,  occasionally , you still need to know some basic things which could make your life so much ,not easier, but colourful. ;)

Orthographically speaking, there is no such word as “gramaticaly”, it should be spelled: grammatically

Sorry, I'm just being pedantic (not "padantic"; that isn’t a word either) ...

If you want to learn proper English spelling, it'll cost you... the price of a good dictionary…

Guess again...

Something can be easy, easier or easiest but never "most easiest"

Not bashing, just trying to keep the English in the right perspective.
You may call it accurate in American English but it is not in Standard British English.

;) It is no use learning what you like to do; you have got to like what you learn !

;) It is no use learning what you like to do; you have got to like what you learn !

It all depends on your perspective.
I spend my life learning what I like, if I don't like it, I don't do it again.

Looking for chinese language teacher, must be professional, not just someone at college.  Should be able to speak reasonable english in order to get through my thick skull.  Anyone know where I might start looking?
