I have been to this bar and I have to say, the staff and service are excellent.
It is so good to be able to watch our favourite sports in comfort, this was almost an impossibility in our previous city.
I for one will be there for the Rugby and the Formula 1, but I like most sports so the problem will probably be... trying to stay out of the bar, LOL :-)

How about the food there? Can you post the menu here, if it's not too much trouble? For me, the food is what draws me to a place.
Thanks.

Looking at your food selection, two items there is of interest to me, and another one might be if it can be altered. If you look around the site, you will find that I am a really big pizza buff. I have checked around the town for different pizzas, trying to find a good one. So far, no real luck. I will try yours out VERY soon, now that I know about it. The only thing is, is that when I try the Supreme, I am going to have to get the capsicum omitted because I am not a spicy kind of guy. And speaking about spice, which brings me to the possible 3rd food of interest. Any way of getting potato wedges without the spice? If so, I am REALLY there in a heartbeat.
-
Yes we can be a bit creative on the pizzas and also wedges can be done non spicy...
In addition to the pizzas offered in SOHO we also have a Pizza Kitchen (with open Pizza oven) as part of the Happy Panda restaurant where you can order Pizza A La Carte or partake in the RMB 155. deal where you can just keep ordering and eating pizza's, teppan, sushi, sashimi, noodles etc- all washed down with Beer and Soft drinks....
As mentioned already- for the rest of this month- buy 2 get 1 free on the 155 RMB menu -
looking forward to seeing you ....

You unlocked my curiosity. Wedges can be made minus the spiciness......see you soon. :P And about the all you can eat, well, it sounds ok but I am not much of a drinker, so, that part of it would go to waste I guess. I will start with the individual setup, review it on this board for all to see as usual with my pizza trekking ways, and if ok, I might step up to buffet style. And about the sports, to be honest, I am not much a fan of the sports that are listed. I am an NBA/NFL guy, which one is almost finished, and the other isn't going to start until a little way down the road. So, if I go, I am just going to concentrate on the pizza. ;) Oh, I might order take-out while I am there, is that ok?
Thanks.

I was near the Hilton today, but I chose not to go. I feel every time I go to these hotels, I have to dress up. Is that true, or can people just go inside there wearing relaxed clothing? If relaxed wear is ok, I just missed out on an opportunity today.
-
They are pretty leanient about dress code. I've been in there fairly scruffily dressed.
-
Ok. Then watch out, here I come. I am REALLY hoping to find a place with decent pizza. Some people always mention Pizza Hut, but I really don't think theirs is ok. I mean, it might be tops in Hefei, but especially for that price, I can't be bothered.
Crossing my fingers with this place. :-\

Well, I thought today would be the day to go see them, but they were closed. I went for lunch time. I guess I wasn't so surprised they were closed, seeing as though they are a beer bar, but I thought at least the Happy Panda next door would be open for the lunch time. I was wrong. So, first trip there.....failure. A hungry and disappointed Rob slinked home.

Actually, it was purely my fault. After visiting the Hefei Hilton site, the hours are clearly posted on there for the different eateries. So, I will take the hit for that. About Happy Panda, if they are planning in asking 155RMB per person for a buffet there, I probably wouldn't end up going. That is too pricey for my tastes. There are quite a few places around town that have buffet setups for a lower price. Maybe what is served at the Hilton Happy Panda is for the wealthy, which I am not. haha

Saturday, 26 July
Australia vs New Zealand
It seems that the 3-N's are tied.
This should be a great match for the Rugby.
Damn... I have to be out of town this Saturday.
-
Were you aware that the Happy Panda provide 'free flowing' Beer with the meal for 155rmb which helps bring the price down. Also throughout the summer, 3 people can eat for the price of 2, bringing the price down even more. :)
I understand that the indian restaurant that was in the Holiday Inn is to be incorporated into the Happy Panda as from 1st August, I cant wait, I have really missed having indian food.
-
Deblest,
Yes I am aware of that, thanks. I am just not a drinker, so for me, it wouldn't give me any incentive to say "free flow beer". Not all foreigners like to get loaded. haha Maybe a beer or a glass of wine from time to time.
Anyways, thanks for the heads up.

Hi Richard,
A group of us went to the Soho bar on Saturday night to watch the Bledisloe from HK at 7.30. The staff were fantastic and really friendly, but unable to find the channel. Will you be showing any of the rugby from Europe starting this weekend?? Australia play Italy, I'm not sure about the ABs or the Springboks. I look forward to coming back and having a few more cold beers at Soho.
