Miyajima, Japanese Restaurant at the Howard Johnson Hotel

Miyajima, Japanese Restaurantl

I re-visited this restaurant recently and thoroughly enjoyed the experience again. I thought it worth a review.

Walking into the impressive lobby gives the visitor a majestic feeling. We were greeted in English with the most pleasant of manners and directed into one of the private rooms. Sparsely decorated but with tasteful décor, it had a sunken floor. (as is typical for Tatami rooms)

Within minutes there were entrées of pickled vegetables on the table and a pot of Japanese tea.

The main dining area
The first dish served was a plate of sashimi including tuna, mackerel, salmon and ice crab,  closely followed with Californian rolls (a popular kind of sushi). Next came the (Prawn) tempura, light and crispy.

The clay-pot of braised beef and potato was tender and full of the flavour you’d expect from a casserole. The Odon noodles is as good any as is the Miso soup.

The grilled soury (fish) was devoured in minutes.

The ambiance of the lunch was conducent for conducting business in a most pleasant way.

A place I will dine with visitors again.

The cost of this was 180rmb per head, 3 people for the meal not the room.

I'll check out the Buffet another day.
