GFW is short for Great Firewall
 its existing will be found when visit some sites such as facebook.com or so on
but there are some softwares can be helpful
if your browser is firefox , download an add-on called gladder(gfw-ladder) may be helpful :

And I know other two browsers base on IE , but they are Chinese version.
they are 自由门(gate to freedom) and 无界浏览 (non-limited browser)
