Is there such a thing as a "western style" meat supplier where one can get eg. chicken which has been cleaned and trimmed (no feet and eyes please) and good fillet steak and possibly lamb or pork chops nicely cut and trimmed of excess fat??? Also - like a nice leg of lamb??? Help if you can...

No problem, just head over to Metro on Huizou Dadao (mai de long - don't ask me for the characters but the tones are four, two, two) They have excellent quality Chinese meat (from the north) as well as imported Angus, etc. It's a cash & carry if you're familiar with that and the only place in Hefei to get proper imported goods (from salamis to cheeses and even good English ales and German lagers). Food lover's heaven!
ps. you need a membership card.

yea i know all about metro  ( mai de long ) an excellent place to go to but abit expensive and quite hard to get a taxi esp, during certain hour's

allso about that member ship and anyone can use the same card if they have any problems you can call ahead and let them know that a friend or just say co worker will be picking up some fresh food's and products
allso its good to have a few people with you incase you can't find a taxi,,,,

I wouldn't call it expensive as there are good prices on some things if you are there when the supplies are in and you shop there regularly to find the bargains. Like all imported goods they attract about 45% import duties just upon landing.
I get 3 litres of French red in a cask for 111 RMB and that is a bargain in my books for quite a nice wine.
All you need is a business card to get the store membership card and they sign you up on the spot at the entrance. The girls in the office and Ms Zhu Bo the manageress both speak some English and may assist if necessary.

i have a membership to metro myself but you should either have reliable transportation or order a lot for them to actually transport you the goods

p.s. one more
i allso noticed that alot of chinese often get confused between mcdonalds and metro so if you ask about them becareful to be abit more clear on speaking as they do sound quite simular
mai de long     mai dang lao  is putonghua but in hefei it sounds simular to that of metro
