Web International

This company has a reputation for cancelling classes.

They pay on time
The school is clean
Chinese staff are usually friendly and interested

WEB has difficulty obtaining visas for foreigners
Housing offered is often sub-standard
Lesson plans are usually irrelevent
Not a consistant English environment (not everyone speaks English)

They expect you fall in line
Rich kid baby-sitting
Too many chiefs and not enough indians

It has been reported that the said employer was recently busted by the PSB for employing more than one FT on an 'F' business class visa. ALL FTs must understand that if you accept employment on an 'F' visa you can be fined and asked to leave China. It is illegal.

The personal first hand report I received from two FTs employed at the said school stated that an FT was basically caught on an expired 'F' visa and the 'shit hit the fan.'

The FT came to see me too late after the order had been issued by the PSB to leave the country. He was granted leniency to come back in on a legitimate visa. That is further proof that the PSB in this city are fantastic and treat us fairly and legitimately.

The said teacher had stated that the employer had not advised of the correct procedures, had not supported the right to teach on a legitimate visa, had made promises of a legal 'Z' visa and 'Residents' permit that they were not willing to keep etc.

I am not into slandering schools but I have seldom heard any 'good reports' from the many FTs that I have personally known that taught at the said school. The only FT who did offer a good report about the said school was sacked for so called 'disciplinary' action.

Also, it was reported to me that another FT that had tried to leave the said school, after the problems surfaced due to the investigation, was threatened that the career of that particular FT would be destroyed in this city if that individual tried to leave.

If you are intimidated in that manner then I am willing to introduce you to the national SAFEA management because I have personal invites to attend their offices in the event that any FT has a problem with an employer.

If this sounds like the kind of school you want to work in then ... go ahead, take the chance!

The said school is also currently being reported to be offering very generous salaries on the basis that they are perhaps 'desperate' to recruit. This report came from one FT, who will remain unnamed. The offer was promptly turned down ... one might wonder why!

I believe that the problems the said school might have for processing legal visas is that the 'franchise' management is 'reportedly' from Wuhu. Therefore, if my understanding is correct, it is not permissible to employ an FT from Wuhu under this particular 'Hefei' jurisdiction. That is irregardless of the fact that the national SAFEA manages all FTs in this province from Hefei.

One thing that employers must understand is that we are a minority group and we need to be respected and treated well. Hefei city is not that big and word gets around.

By the way, there are no perfect employers and likewise, there are no perfect FTs either.

I disagree with you, there are some great schools and I know ONE perfect FT but I'm too humble to tell you who it is.  Grin

The other week I met the HRM of Webb at a government function. She seemed like a reasonable person. She also stated that obtaining a visa from Webb was NOW legal. One of the crew most of us know from around town recently took up offered employment there and said he had a z visa/residency permit processed. I still question what goes on as he did state they sent him to Wuhu for a few days. I was reliably informed that the franchise was initiated from Wuhu but I am not sure if visas are still processed through that regional franchise.

The questions still remain as to why they have pissed off so many foreigners over such a long period of time and as to why they did not provide legal residency permits for most foreigners who worked for them?
