The bavarian checked the bar´s, here our result:

Revolutionary Bar                 Live Musik, Billiard and Tsingtao beer
MGM                                  DanceFloor Musik, minimum turnover on the table, really loud, good for meeting chinese, budwiser :-(
Morgans Bar                        simillar to Revolutinary Bar, but with a kicker (tablesoccer)
Madisons                             hard to find, nobody now it, but really good selfmade beer, billiard, karaoke/livemusik
Club 7                                closed
Charlie´s Bar                        closed
Boiling 100                          not booling :-) similar to MGM, but better girls....
Number 1                           similar to MGM

also now

Phebe                               next to Boiling 100, similar to MGM/Number1/Boiling 100

Strange... they were open the last time I was there...  Grin
Club 7 was not as popular as Number 1 next door so I guess they closed.
I wonder what it will be called next month  Huh

Charlie's Bar closed?  Oh man, there goes my faint hope of getting the hamburger special reinstated.  Grin  What happened?

Oops, I think I misread that.  I thought they closed down, not just closed for your visit.

Nevermind, carry on.   Roll Eyes

Ship Yard Cafe - Wuhu road near the Revolutionary Bar.  Very nice "Coffee Shop" with private rooms.  Assortment of ice cold beer, domestic and imports.  Food menu includes, pizza, "hot wings", french fries, and chinese dishes.  Jeremy is the owner, he is British.  His wife Olive is Chinese.  They are both very nice and helpful.  The service is pretty good.  This place is not easy to find.  It is in a residential building on the main floor.  Good food, good beer, good service. Charlie's bar at the holiday inn downtown is still open.  I was there a few weeks ago.  The place was empty on a Saturday night.  They have a pool table and poker table.  They also have Karoake.  Very boring so we left and went to the Revolutionary bar.

Madfison hard to find?Huh?

mah.. my first bar in Hefeiand still favorite place, hands down..

i am probably one of the few foreigners that don't like Rev: too loud, impossible to talk unless you go to the lateral room that is.. too quiet!!!
and i am not a difficult person, quite the opposite.. just never felt at home there.

add Phebe (just 10 meters after Baidu).. same as Baidu, full of pretty girls, club for dancing and playing..
in phebe, just close to the toilet area there is a relaxation open room with 2 amazing comfortable massage chairs..
they are either for free.. or i was just lucky to sit there after someone that paid before me!!
(by the way, for Phebe and Baidu the road name is NING GUO LU!)

a good place, for relaxing and good drinks, Benjiamin 15, but expensive i know.. still i prefer sometimes to pay a little more and having some really good stuff..

for beers and wine, Bitburger as well, but not for food.. nothing interesting for me.. (i love German food, but at Papa's or similar in Shanghai.. i actually thing Bitburger is by far over evaluated!)

for drinks, Old Days in front of nong da bei men. long time i don't go there, but i used to like the place.. very quiet.. good to relax and read and get something good to drink/eat at reasonable prices..

a note about MADISON (still my favorite but.. read!):

they used to have a great draft black beer but they don't produce it anymore.
the normal draft beer, often it ends too early..

my first times there the price of the big jar of beer was around 20 rmb, actually cheaper for the foreigners.
now it is, for me at least, 40 rmb.. and i think the same for chinese..

so when it's over you can get the deal of several beer bottles for 100 rmd: there sohuld be 7 (SEVEN) beers!!!

last two times i was there they tried to give me only 5 saying it's normal.. but then a Chinese guy on another table got the same deal and .. 7 bottles.. so they had to fold and give me 2 more...

true there are less and less foreigners at Madison.. so maybe you're not interested..
if not, keep this in mind!

Is anyone familiar with "On the Way" bar? I read a brief summary of it (5rmb beer!) and I'd like to go check it out:

I'd rather not bus it there, so it'd be great if an exact location is provided.

(in) Happiness - Xìngfú Li - 幸福里

new small and cute place opened a few months ago at the corner between

Jinzhai lu - Changhjiang lu

very central!

you can enter the bar even from the round bridge over the road: it is on the opposite side of Woman street (Nu ren jie)

it's a quite place, very nice inside, cafe-bar style, extremely good coffee (said by an Italian espresso lover! the owner participates to Barista competitions often!), food little expensive but drinks i'd say at good price.
acceptable choice on the menu, for alcohol  Grin

quiet place!

Thanks Andy!  Speaking of Cafe's, I happened upon one the other day called Cappuccino (original name, huh?). I got the business card with location, but it is in Chinese and I have no way of transcribing it now. Alcoholic drinks are served, but I didn't get a good look at the list. Good tea. It is quite nice, reminiscent of one of the many cafes on Nantucket.

This was called the something Bear or Bear something and belonged the a HongKonganese, or is it HongKasian or HongKongian or was he Singaporean?

They had some great food there but were rarely busy. I wanted to get back again.  The entrance is actually on the ring walking bridge on the South-west corner nearest the CBD building.
