I want to tell you that renting a car in Hefei is quite vexing, at least from my first experience with it.

I will post the site and maybe even the person's telephone number, just so you know which one I went through.  I told my friend, who is Chinese, to tell the people there 6:30pm, front of my gate.  Well, this person showed up 6:45pm, and told us that until my friend called them back, that he thought it was 7:00pm pick-up because of what his friend told him.  So, that was problem number 1, and for me, quite a big problem because my wife and I were standing outside in the cold wind for 15 minutes, wondering when this guy would come.  Problem number 2....he didn't know where the hotel was!  Big time problem.  So, my wife told him, and slowly we got there, after saying turn this way, that way, and so on.  Rule number 1, when you are a driver, know your destination path BEFORE departing on your journey.

What an awful time (and this was the same night that I went to that awful buffet at Swiss-Bel).  Not a good night overall.  And just to let you know, I paid 280RMB for pick-up and drop off, in some kind of sporty car (I wanted something different from those Audis and Buicks that I see everywhere in Hefei).

They had no reason to play head games though because we weren't paying by the hour.  We had rented it for the night, so the more mileage they put on the car, including more gas used, was not in their best interest.  They were just unorganized.
