I'm considering taking a teaching position in Hefei and is wondering if anybody can enlighten me on what sort of taxes in China my income will be subject to?  I will likely be there beyond the 183 days which I believe triggers my income to be taxable by China.

As I understand it, less than 5,000 yuan is not taxable between 5,000-10,000 is 5%, over is 15% for teachers.
I can't be certain because the schools do that for me.

Thank you.  I had found some tax tables, but was thinking they were based on annual amounts like in the USA, but it appears their tiering is based on monthly salary amounts.  It appears that you are confirming that.

The site info is dated Sept 2008 -- I believe there may have been changes since then.
