I refrain from judging whether these trends will be good or bad for humanity. However, just as we all know how to behave inside an elevator, I think the world needs to follow some basic rules for smart phone etiquette.


I, for one, find it amazing that people cannot be separated from their phones for the two hours it takes to watch a movie in the cinema. Hearing a ringtone followed by that loud, 'Hello? Hi, yeah, that's right, I'm in the movie theatre right now! How are things with you?' fills me homicidal fury everytime. I read recently of a cafe that that wrote explicitly on its door that it had no Wi-Fi as the people working there wanted it to be a place where the patrons chatted with each other.
