China bullet train derails in eastern province - report Reuters July 24, 2011, 12:19 am

SHANGHAI - A bullet train in China's eastern province of Zhejiang derailed late on Saturday with two carriages falling off a bridge, the official Xinhua news agency quoted local fire department sources as saying.

No details on the casualties were immediately available.

The train was travelling from the provincial capital Hangzhou to the city of Wenzhou and derailed at the section of Shuangyu Town in Wenzhou at 8:34 p.m. (1:34 p.m. BST), said fire fighters from Wenzhou.

Rescue teams were on their way to the scene, Xinhua said.

I was in Hangzhou and both my father and some friends asked me if it was my train!

there were 2 trains involved!

Many casualties and injured.. and quite accidental disaster: the first train was struck by a lightning (I remember enjoying the lightning storm in Hz!) and stop dead on the tracks.. the second train just crash head into that one..

Scary..

both trains were to Fuzhou, one from Beijnig, one from Hangzhou.
