Hi everybody! I'm Dominique. I just arrived in Hefei with my husband Marc (aka Red Red Wine) about a month ago.
We will be posted here for 1-2 years. Marc is working for the new Crowne Plaza Hefei (slated to open early 2012) beside the 1912 bar complex.
We are both Spanish-Filipino and originally from Manila but have been posted in Hangzhou and Nanjing the past few years. Hefei seems to be a
much quieter city but we haven't had much time to explore it yet. We also hardly see any foreigners here, so would be great to meet any of
you sometime.

We would love to have a few drinks this Saturday night at a nice bar or pub. Where do you all hangout?
Any nice bar recommendations in the city after 9pm?  Smiley Thanks!

Thanks Mike and Andy! Smiley

Really looking forward to the new Expat bar (hope it really opens!).

I have to go back to 1912 again. To be honest, I only passed by once and didn't see that many foreigners, actually there weren't that many people in general at all. Saw Lavazza which looked great and the Madrid Club, although haven't eaten there yet. Marc and I were just walking around checking the place out. It looked pretty nice but seems like some of the other places are still closed, so I'm sure it'll be much better soon. Smiley

Thanks for the replies. We're happy to be here in Hefei.  We actually missed China when we went back to Manila for a year. Being in China is an adventure and happy to be back. Smiley

Hi Dom79! welcome to Hefei! Indeed Hefei is a little bit quite compared to Shanghai and other big cities in China. About expats,it's rapidly increasing and if you are interested there are more that 50 filipinos around but then again you can't recognize them because or rather hardly recognize them because they sort of look like chinese. have a blast in Hefei!

Hi Chowder. Yes, I have been noticing that there are more and more expats coming to Hefei. Smiley The city is also booming slowly.
Thanks for the welcome. Take care! Smiley
