The "Let's Go" pizza place you are talking about Chowder, is I am assuming the "Let's Enjoy Pizza", located near the walking street.  If so, then yes, it is still open.  My wife and a former student, along with her mother, went there recently for a pie.

It's been a while since I last posted here, so, after my wife's latest find, I thought I would dust it off and deliver some fresh news.  Though I didn't try out their pizza yet, I am excited by the pricing, and some of the other things they offer at their establishment.  The place is called "Baker's Pizza", and it's located about 10-15 shops west of the large computer mall on Chang Jiang Road/Jin Zhai Road, on the same side (north).  It's opposite of a hotel (forgot the name) and next to a bakery.  From the computer store, looking west, if you follow along the shops there, and you hit "the banks", such as China Merchants Bank and so on, you know you went to far.

What I like about this place is their pizza's seem to be the cheapest I have seen in Hefei up to date, and according to my wife, who is not a big eater of "foreign foods", she enjoy the wings they served there, among other things.  So, I am hoping their pizzas live upto the same standard as that.  I will try it out this Saturday if my time window is still open for it, and report back.  Supposedly, this is a chain shop.  Their website address, which I found EXTREMELY slow when I went to visit, is www.bakers-pizza.com.  Their site is in Chinese, but if you go to their place, the menu is in English and Chinese, with beautiful coloured photos to entice you to eat like a horse.  Wink

Oh, and they deliver, which is nice as well on a rainy day or whatever.  And no, they are not paying me to write this.  I am just enthused that I got to write in the pizza thread again.  Grin Grin

Now my favourite...

24-32RMB each except for the 45RMB one.
Great selection of other goodies to. Garlic bread, pasta, etc.

They deliver for orders of 40RMB but sometimes stop before 9.00
I order the 29RMB pizza and 4 upper wing sections for 41RMB.

Delivery sucks sometimes... more than an hour and pizza is like morning after the night before...

Another update for a pizza place, and this is a biggie.  Papa John's, supposedly is open now in Hefei.  I haven't been there yet, but from my wife, I found out the rough whereabouts.  It's near the intersection of Meng Cheng Road and Sui Xi Road, on the north side.  At that location, there is a new shopping mall called "Lago", or something like that.  It's a multi-floor place, which might place Papa Jphn's on the top floor, which would make the setup pretty much like Chang Jiang Road Carrefour location.

I am going to be a busy guy this weekend, that's for sure.  I have been waiting for Papa John's to come to Hefei for a long time, and from the looks of it, they have finally arrived.

Welcome home, Papa.   Tongue Grin

I am just going through the pizza I got from Baker's Pizza, and I have to say it pretty darn good.  Add to that, the price was 22RMB for a 9 inch (me thinks it's 9) pie which again, is pretty darn good.  This might be tops in my book at the moment, but I still have one place to try....and that is the ever heralded PAPA JOHNS.  That is on my list for tomorrow night, if time permits.  If so, you know I am going to post my finding here.

I also ordered a few other things from BP, but because this is a pizza thread, I will just stick to this.

Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad Sad

Oh man, what a sad day this has turned out to be.  I called the central phone number for Papa Johns and wanted to place my order for a pie, only thing is........THERE IS NO PAPA JOHNS IN HEFEI.  Cry  Oh, wifey was SO wrong about this. ha ha

Well, whatever that new place is, that she said, NEEDS to be identified.  They might still be contructing it or something, don't know, but for now, my Papa John's post is labeled "nada, zip, zilch" for now.

Can you say second time in two nights for new place on Chang Jiang Road?  Grin  I need my pizza fix cured.

Hm.....the plot thickens.  After telling my wife about what happened today with Papa Johns, she mentioned that today was "their" grand opening.  Hm.....I have to check this out personally, and if I see it with my own eyes, I will let y'all know.  If it's not Papa Johns, I will let you know what the heck it is, and give my wife a lashing of her life.  Grin Grin

Well, I went to the place that my wife mentioned as a possible location of a Papa Johns.....yeah, turned out to be false.  She saw "@#$@#pizza" and maybe thought it was Papa Johns.  I am not sure what the Chinese before pizza meant, so if you go there, post the results.  The place I am talking about is the new Tesco mall, located at Sui Xi Road and Meng Cheng Road (north-east side of the intersection, one building away).  I went in there, and felt like a mouse in a maze.  I HATE it when they do that.  The Carrefour at the end of Sui Xi Road to the south has that, and I vowed NEVER to go back there again.  For this place, same deal.  The only thing I would go for is if I am near it, the KFC out front, and near the KFC there is a DQ (Dairy Queen), which for those of you familiar with it, is a large chain that sells ice cream and depending on the location, fried foods).

Another piece of pizza news, I went to the Carrefour on Chang Jiang Road, 3rd floor, to check out what's new.  I found a place that does pizza, but I don't think it's good.  I bought the pizza, and it's at home now.  Will try it later and give my review.  But from the initial look, doesn't look special.  Aroma from it is nice though.  I paid around 28, maybe 29RMB and it's a 9" "supreme" or "meaty", forgot.  I also ordered spaghetti, but at 18RMB a piece (which was the norm before Bakers Pizza came to town), this most likely be the last.  No reason to buy something that is double, for spaghetti that seems the same in taste more or less, and priced double.  Factor in the time it takes to get to the third floor and so on, compared to Bakers Pizza, again, it seems like the last time for me with it.

But.....if you are interested in trying them out, they are located on the 3rd floor Carrefour, Chang Jiang Road location.  If you take the elevator up, once you get off, follow the pathway to your right, and keep going until you see a piano outside of a restaurant, which will be on your right hand side.  That is it.  If you are coming up the escalator, once you get off, keep going straight until you hit the end of the pathway.  Look to your right, and you will see a piano.  That is the place.

In closing, if other people plan on opening a place that serves pizza, I HIGHLY advise you checking out the prices and so on of Bakers Pizza.  This will be the place I compare all places to.  If you are a chain, ahem, Papa Johns, then you get the "bye", and will pull is custies (customers) regardless.

Tried some of the other places but not worth writing about compared to "Let's Enjoy Pizza, Bakers and Holiday Inn".

I don't buy pizza anywhere else unless I'm trying it out.

Mike, I agree 100%.  This was purely a taste test so I can review it on H.E.  I looked at the pic of it, and was not amused.  Oh well, it's all good.

By the way, for the people that want the direct URL for Bakers Pizza's site, it's below:

http://www.bakers-pizza.com/caidan.asp

I LOVE their pics.  BTW, I am going to pick up a pie and a few other things from there tonight.  Tongue Grin

Here's a hidden place that's worth a visit.

It's called "Let's Enjoy Pizza", I think.
It's near the "Mirror" Bar in Qin Lao Xiang. For those who know the mirror (Gay Bar).

When you walk inside, there is a table with 3 chairs in the window.
The main dining area is up stairs.  It has simple decor and is very clean and white.
The thing that struck me most is the lack of Chinese feel about the place.
The dining area is two small rooms, 1 with 1 table seating 6 and the other only has 4 tables,
2 x 4 seats and 2 x 2 seats.
English music was playing and the initial service was good and friendly. However their English was limited.
The toilet is surprisingly clean although it is a squatty potty not a Western throne.
The air conditioning was very comfortable.

I ordered a Pizza but wasn't sure what I ordered except it had beef and vegies.

While I was waiting, another table vacated and the staff had it cleared and clean quicker than I'd ever seen in China.

When my Pizza arrived, it looked good and smelt great.
The toppings were fairly generous and well distributed.
It was not too oily and the tomato sause base was good and not just tomato sause from a bottle.
The base was cooked to a golden crisp and the cheese had partial tints of golden brown patches,
just how I like it.

All in all, a great Pizza experience

They gave me a menu in Chinese so I'll get it translated and posted here.
The Pizza costs range from 19 - 29 RMB for the 7" and 34 - 50RMB for the 9"
That's about 10RMB more than the Pizza House on ChangJiang Zhong Lu
but I think it's worth it.

I'd rate this Pizza at 4.5 olives and the Pizza House at 4 olives.
