Bit Buerger (sp?) is located on Wuhu lu road not to far from Buy now.  They have a pretty extensive menu with various German and Italian dishes.  The pizza is pretty good and the German beer is excellent.  They usually have a Chinese band on the weekends.

The food portions at that place is TOO small.  I am a big eater, so that place doesn't do it for me, at all.  Now, if you are going for drinking or whatever, then that might fit for some people.  Undecided

I agree about the disproportionately sized meals. I could probably eat a couple of those sausage platters. But the Octoberfest sized beers, excellent wine selection and reasonably good service makes up for that.

A Paulaner will open around Dec 20th in Bar Street 1912

Crossing Huai nang lu and Huang shan lu ( on the "South Beauty " side , besides the spanish restaurant

Don't know whether they will follow the Paulaner standard...

I gotta say, I thought the food portions were ok.  A bit small, especially the sausages, but I had an entree and 1 appetizer and I was full.

This is good to know. Bitburger's food is mediocre, at best.

Westin seems to have a British influence in many dishes, roasts, good deserts even a chocolate fountain. 150rmb for the lunch.

I did not find a German restaurant called "Paulaner" at 1912. I did, however, find a restaurant called "Bacchus" with a Paulaner beer sign out front. True to it's name, it has a fairly extensive selection of International and domestic wine's. And, of course, Paulaner beer on tap and in bottles. It has some obscure German beers that I have not seen since I was stationed there in the 80's. There is no German cuisine to speak of, except for a sausage platter that could pass as an appetizer. The service is very attentive bordering on obsequious. Atmosphere is redolent of a sport's bar/ski lodge (you'll have to see it to understand). Needless to say, I plan on going back to imbibe more German beer.  I give it 4 out of 5 stars (the large-screen plasma tv's showing  basketball game's were distracting).

They just opened Paulaner: I was in 1912 last saturday (spanish place.. god, it's expensive! but they treated us very well.. i was with a spanish friend!).

Paulaner is open and operative.. and if any where close to Shanghai, it is going to be also extra expensive!
(it is on the club Tang and Spanish restaurant side, just on the side of club Tang)

good luck!  Grin

Paulaner in Hefei!!??

Where is 1912, I know there is a 1912 bar area in Nanjing but they have the same thing in Hefei now?

While first coming to Hefei in 2001 I haven't spent much time there in the past several years, my how things have changed.  I remember when the only Western options were the Holiday Inn and the Sofitel Grand Zenith in addition to KFC and MCD's of course.  I nearly did a cartwheel when the Pizza Hut opened next to the Parkson!
