It is currently quite dirty and dusty whilst demolition of shopfronts is occurring. Recommend dust mask just in case.

Sanxiaokou Business Circle to be Upgraded

         hefei.gov.cn        2012/2/1

Sanxiaokou Business Circle will be upgraded, according to reliable sources.

Two markets of Chenghuangmiao Temple and Women's Street will be renovated. The two markets stopped charging rents and related fees for temporary stalls from last November in a bid to make sure relocation work goes smoothly. The reporter learned that two markets will be beautified and brightened after the relocation work is completed.

According to related persons, a batch of "Time-Honored Brand" with characteristics of Hefei will be introduced to the market of Chenghuangmiao Temple in an attempt to upgrade its taste.

I love it the way it is...
It took me 8 years to be able to locate places as I need them, now it'll become just another shopping mall.

I also preferred the colorful old food market the way it was. I buy veges there every second day. Apparently it was about 50 years old. At the entrance of gong da bei qiu, there is another farmer's market that is pretty good.

It will be disappointing to see Chenghuang miao and Women's street get beautified. The character of these places cannot be manufactured with 'time honored brand'.
